LIL. Research further. President can do this for 30 days before getting Congress involved. Worse, it's not like almost all Presidents haven't done this already- that this would be some new occurrence.
No we don't and we need to remove all of the Russian agents that are in the White House this is insanity he needs to be removed immediately because they are insane
CellyBlue -- I do know this! You hit the heart of the matter with Article I powers.
The most consequential war of the twentieth century was Declared by Congress as documented in unforgettable film that was part of the soundtrack of my 1950s childhood: President Franklin Delano Roosevelt, in his filmed speech before Congress said,
"YESTERDAY, December 7, 1941 a date which will live in infamy the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.
"The United States was at peace with that Nation and, at the solicitation of Japan, was still in conversation with its Government and its Emperor looking toward the maintenance of peace in the Pacific. Indeed, one hour after Japanese air squadrons had commenced bombing in the American Island of Oahu, the Japanese Ambassador to the United States and his colleague delivered to our Secretary of State a formal reply to a recent American message. And while this reply stated that it seemed useless to continue the existing diplomatic negotiations, it contained no threat or hint of war or of armed attack."
Not a decade later, Harry S. Truman joined the United States in the Korean War, President Truman did so without a Declaration of War from Congress.
Since Harry S. Truman, America has been at war numerous times without consent of Congress.
This is not a new problem.
This is a very grave problem.
The problem reflects, in part, the massive destructive nature of modern weaponry and the military necessity of surprise.
But an argument can be advanced that the war powers have been the major engine driving the centralization of power in the President.
So much so that Vice President Dick Cheney and his Counsel, David Addington, advocated Presidential Power on STEROIDS: "The Unitary Executive."
"The Unitary Executive" is a most dangerous doctrine, and has been adopted by no less a jurist than Chief Justice John Roberts.
The Chief Justice is blessed by Mother Nature with a very fine mind. Chief Justice John Roberts had the intellectual and spiritual resources to evolve into a great jurist in the heritage of Benjamin Cardozo and Felix Frankfurter.
All the more damnworthy that Chief Justice John Roberts chose to be an instrument to undermine our society organized under ordered liberty. Mr. Roberts did so by adopting de facto, but not in word, the unitary executive theory.
Chief Justice Roberts singlehandedly has delivered American liberties into the fine-toothed grist mill of a Presidency with plenary and immune powers.
The only remedy can be a return to the balance of powers among Articles I (Congress), II (The Executive) and III (The Judiciary).
Great Question, Celly, and that thing sitting in the White House needs to be Impeached 😖‼️
They won’t do it.
CellyBlue -- I do know this, and Karen Scofield: If it WERE executable, Impeachment would be the best remedy.
But it was predictable that both attempts would fail in the last administration of DJT, and for that reason I opposed the efforts.
Any opposition to DJT that fails, strengthens him.
I oppose poor strategy against DJT. Not because "he doesn't deserve it." He most certainly DOES DESERVE IT.
But a shot aimed at the boar must kill him, lest the boar be but bruised, and, cornered, becomes angry and lunges to deadly rebound attack.
Armand currently we have no congress. They aren’t doing anything!
CellyBlue -- I do know this! I totally agree!
I thought he sad no more war??? Oh yeah that was a lie also
Tell it!!!

I’m waiting to hear if he even notified Congress of his intentions.
Truman should say "without formal declaration of war"

I don’t think Congress cares too much about this strike
Not just servicemen….. people in the U.S. THERE ARE SLEEPER CELLS EVERYWHERE IN THE U.S. just waiting to attack US in our homes and our streets.
Where were you when every president since Truman has acted in similar fashion?
Let's start with Truman.
Deployed ground forces and authorized airstrikes in Korea with formal declaration of war.
Kennedy - Bay of Pigs
Lyndon Johnson - Gulf of Tonkin airstrikes occurred before the Gulf of Tonkin Resolution was passed.
Nixon - Cambodia & Laos - secret unauthorized bombing campaigns
Reagan - Bombed Tripoli and Benghazi in retaliation for Berlin discotheque bombing.
G.H.W. Bush - Panama - Invasion and airstrikes to oust Manual Noriega
Iraq - Airstrakes began before Congress passed resolution approving
Desert Storm
Clinton - Iraq - Airstrikes against Saddam Hussein without Congressional approval.
Kosovo - 78-Day NATO bombing campaign without approval
Obama - Air campaign as part of NATO action to topple Gaddafi without Congressional approval.
Airstrikes against ISIS and other terror groups -Syria, Yemen, Somalia and Iraq
Trump - Airstrikes against Assad regime over chemical weapons without Congressional approval.
Airtstrike that killed Iranian General Soleimani
Biden - Airstrikes on Iranian-backed militia groups - Syria
Well Larry tell us about every other president since Truman whose acted this way and I’ll tell you where I was!
