CellyBlue -- I do know this! Thank you so much for this illuminating history.
Armando grew up on the plainly stereotypical TV series of the 1950s, images that were so cleaned up that even the little boy knew they did not represent the crusty real life.
Your writing uncovers history in all its risk and human cost.
CellyBlue -- I do know this! Armando has a lot of faults. Nancy, whom I have loved for 54 years, and married 52 years, reminds me e-v-e-r-y-d-a-y!! A married man soon becomes humble, I can tell you.
But truth is a core value, along with humanity to and love of neighbor, no matter that person's status.
Which is why I am in deep sorrow about the persecution of immigrants. I am really, really outraged at the brutality and cruelty of Trump/ICE.
You know so well -- this brutality on the part of executive power has a long tradition, not least under Jim Crow.
Which makes the ICE cruelty the more frightful and horrifying. Precisely because it is not new in America but has a long tradition.
That is truly sorrowful and frightful.
YOURS is one of the best anchored publications around. Anchored in core values and sound historical and cultural knowledge AND INTEGRITY.
Thank you for the input, I am Not trying to lump everyone together. I gotta be honest @LawrenceStonebraker, I have read the book yet I never saw the movie I believe I was deployed when it came out. I will try to stream it.
What a sin the way our history has been whitewashed! And it's getting worse. Blacks, Mexicans, Asians, Native Americans, are all a vital part of this country, why aren't they apart of our history books? Ever look at an art history book? For years you would be hard pressed to find a woman or a person of color in any of them. It's given a really skewed viewpoint of reality, much to the detriment of our country. Thank you for bringing this part of history to light.
