THANK YOU! I have PTSD & getting off social media in 2020 was astonishing how much more regulated I became. I often take news breaks (dealt w breast cancer, triple bypass…stroke) & encourage others to do so.

Few a my circle also started news breaks- pro-tip> tell a trusted friend about plan for bubble, ask if something life threatening or altering like natural disasters to contact while in bubble. Small periods are best to start. An evening, a walk or being in nature I found made transition more successful & having PTSD, it’s about safety. You have provided excellent info! Especially to connect w another human! That’s the fastest way to get out of spiral bc being around others who ARE regulated, our body is drawn to mirror others’ & be aware SMELLS can be the strongest trigger! ✌🏽

I spent my recovery time learning about neurobiology & polyvagal theory. The thing that stuck with me most was the science saying “once activated, your brain doesn’t have the bandwidth to think rationally. It’s all survival! Humming, gargling, running outside, cold on feet-all good for reset so can get “grounded.” BTW, takes a badass to be honest & vulnerable about her truths!

This course is not considered a form of therapy. However, it helps me a lot, which is why I enjoy teaching this, as I tend not to practice enough on my own. For more information, check out https://cct.becompassionatenl.ca/. I work in the Gift Economy, meaning that I offer discounts and scholarships, and will accept help with the Craic and Conviviality Mighty Network or volunteer work, as a form of payment.
