Uh-oh. Loving vs Virginia. Here is another Supreme Court decision that could be reversed by the current Supreme Court. After Roe vs Wade, nothing is impossible or unthinkable. This Court would March us back to the white, male Christian past that is so treasured by the Republican right. I am old, remember those times well. The one drop belief was not taught, it was just furtively spoken of between white adults and absorbed by their children. Fight Kamala, win please, we will not go back to those distorted years.

Loving vs Virginia — the hypocrisy of Thomas in eanting to overturn Obergefell when he himself has benefited from a similar decision that made his marriage legal in all states.

I wonder how CT would vote if this law were challenged. Would he choose his wife or power?

Would Ginny choose him or jail? Hmmm.

CellyBlue -- I do know this! --

We know this!

But I love reading the life-story of Future President Kamala Harris.

I do not need to be convinced of Ms. Harris' identity, and I suspect your readers don't either.

As a matter of fact, I also celebrate her heritage from Ancient India.

But I love Kamala Harris' biography and you tell it well!

We all need to post her biography every place we can!

Please say this again Ms. Celly Blue, but let’s takes a step backward firsts and accept that he isn’t a grown ass man, and that is why copious amounts of ignorance roll out of his mouth each time he opens it, and/or utters a word: What does that even mean. This is one of the most assinine statements a grown ass man could make.

Trump's statement isn't even internally consistent. He knew years ago that she was Black but now he didn't know? That was two clauses in one sentence cancelling them both out. Cancel Trump.

i still contend that because of his early onset dementia, he confused Nikki Haley with Kamala Harris. Both married to white men. But Nikki is totally Indian heritage. He has a hard time telling all women apart- confusing E. Jean Carroll in a photograph with Marla Maples.

You do. Know a lot. I appreciate the little history lessons. I wasn’t aware of the one drop rule. Now I have something more to be sad about regarding my race. So thank you .

ps Go Kamala😸👊🔜🆙

I’m biracial (black father, white mother), and I was taught the 1% rule as soon as I was old enough to question why I was different than my peers!! I accept exactly who I am! It’s society that tries to make biracial people choose one identity over the other!!

Having grown up embracing many cultures is just one facet of the richness Kamala Harris will bring to the job of POTUS. In this area of learning, Trump is very handicapped. He demonstrates that without even trying, most every day.

Trump is dangerous to the whole world. We will be a little safer if he can be put behind bars.

The one drop rule sounds suspiciously like the Nazi race laws, doesn’t it?

Was reading Isabel Wilkerson’s excellent book Caste, which talks about how the Nazi regime sent people to srudy the race laws. In Jim Crow southern states. They even thought the One Drop rule was too far for Jews who had only one great grandparent in their ancestry. A popular 1927 Broadway musical and subsequent film about the Old South, called Showboat, has a character Julie, a riverboat singer who is passing for white and is revealed to be part black..She and her white husband are fired from her job by the One Drop purity rule. It’s has many beautiful songs in it, including Ole Man River.

I wish I could truthfully say that I did not know Trump was alive until a number of years ago, when he decided he could turn into presidential material, and now wants to be known as the once, future and always president. But alas, I have known of this conniving, bestial man's existence since at least 1979, and he has always been conniving and bestial.

Kamala Harris was a lovely, intelligent, accomplished young woman in the photos you provided. It is just a happy, delicious twist of fate and welcome news for our country that this beautiful, intelligent, accomplished woman will be its next president.

Thank you for this lesson. I was born in England and unaware of this history.

Trump is a lowlife, his children are lowlife, to have someone that hates women even their own mother to have her buried on a golf course is the worse thing that a person could do for their mother. No respect for women especially black women. He is uneducated, vile and disgusting person. He loves to insult women but when the tables are turned, he whine about it.

The reality is that there probably isn't a single person in this country who is considered white who could retain that classification under the one-drop rule. Wouldn't it be wonderful if we could stop classifying everybody and just get along? With a little luck, Vice-President Harris and Governor Walz will take our coountry to a better place. I just hope I live long enough to see it.
