Gun Violence is the norm now in Birmingham. It is the norm in the state of Alabama. The Governor Kay Ivey and the Republican Legislature, the Republican Attorney General, the Republican Secretary of State run things and created the laws to make it so.
Alabama is an open carry state. You do not need a gun permit, which means that most adults may openly carry a firearm without a permit.
As of January 1, 2023, Alabama no longer requires permits for concealed carry, making the state a permitless or constitutional carry state. (Individuals may still get permits, if they want to take advantage of reciprocity offered in other states.).
The only firearms known to be prohibited are those disguised as walking canes. Both open carry and concealed carry without a permit is allowed for both residents and non-residents.
The mayor Randall Woodfin, the police Chief Thurmond, leaders and citizens are frustrated. Montgomery and Governor Ivey have tied the hands. This state is spend 1.3 billion dollars on a prison but won’t make common sense gun laws.
This isn’t about the 2nd Amendment. This is about having common sense gun laws.
