Vera Coking lived in her home in Atlantic City, New Jersey since 1961. That was the year she and her husband bought the property at 127 South Columbia Place as a summertime retreat for $20,000.
Donald Trump in 1993 wanted Mrs. Coking property tried to persuade her to sell her home to make room for a parking lot for the Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino, which was located next door. Mrs. Coking, who had once been offered 1 million for the property said No.
Mr. Trump in attempting to get her to sell, tried to buttered her up with Neil Diamond tickets, Mrs. Coking had no idea who Neil Diamond was! Again said No!
Mr. Trump then got nasty and got Atlantic City's Casino Reinvestment Development Authority to threaten to take the property using eminent domain. So, because of her refusal to sell the city condemned her house, using the power of eminent domain.
Mrs. Coking, who had lived in her house at that time for 32 years found hers…
