The movie sees Abdul-Mateen II take on the role of a young Black FBI agent, who begins to investigate the murders of civil rights leaders in Mississippi in the mid-1960s as he teams up with agent Gregory Scarpa (Mark Wahlberg), a mob hitman who has his own violent way of doling out justice.
